In order to assist in the automatic extraction of information from manuscripts in biomedicine and health, we have developed a set of XML tags to identify key points of information, including content items from the CONSORT checklist. An ontology of XML tags is attached as an MSWord document, and an accompanying Excel sheet shows how these tags correspond to CONSORT checklist items and the tagging system used by ExaCT.
